Paper recognizing apparatus

The invention provides a paper recognizing apparatus to engage an output gear with a transmission gear reliably so as to enable a delivery mechanism to deliver paper well. Paper inserted via an inserting port (21) is delivered and received, by the delivery mechanism (70) disposed internally, in a receiving base (61). The delivery mechanism comprises a delivery roller (74) for clamping a part of a paper currency with a tension roller (80) to deliver the paper currency when rotating about the axis of the delivery roller (74); a delivery motor unit (77) equipped with a delivery motor (78); a transmission gear (75) engaged with the output gear (76) of the delivery motor unit (77). The paper recognizing apparatus comprises a first protruded portion (91) for pushing the delivery motor unit (77) to enable the output gear to approach the transmission gear; and a second protruded portion (92) for pushing the rotating shaft (75a) of the transmission gear to enable the transmission gear (75) to approach the output gear.
