The medium is prepared from cow dung, inflated pearlite and yellow soil. The light medium produced by the method does not contain a living germ, an egg or a harmful substance, and is appropriate in nutrient, loose and breathable; growth and development of a root system can be promoted; and growth of the peony for oil is facilitated. The medium formula disclosed by the invention is wide in source, easy to obtain and low in production cost; meanwhile, the problem that the cow dung in a cattle farm is difficult to treat can be solved; the medium disclosed by the invention is simple in preparation method and controllable in quality; an operating technique is easy to grasp; the three wastes are not generated in the production cost; and environment is not polluted.
