Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a recording sheet transport device and an image reading device. The recording sheet transport device having a transport path having a curvature includes a multifeed detector and an orientation stabilizing device. The multifeed detector detects a multifeed state in which two or more recording sheets are superposed on one another while the two or more recording sheets are being transported. The orientation stabilizing device stabilizes an orientation of parts of the two or more recording sheets, at which the multifeed state is detected by the multifeed detector, relative to the multifeed detector.
