The present invention provides an absorbent article with improved movement of liquid from a top sheet to an ansorber. In the absorbent article (1) according to the present invention, the top sheet (2) is a non-woven fabric including high fiber density areas (21) and low fiber density areas (22). The absorber (4) includes an absorbent core (41), a top-sheet-side cover sheet (42), a back-sheet-side cover sheet (43), and compressed recesses (45) formed by compressing the back-sheet-side cover sheet (43) in the derection of the absorbent core (41). The compressed recesses (45) include low-comression recesses (452) formed in a mesh patten, and high-compression recesses (451) formed so as to be scattered in the mesh pattern. When the low fiber density areas (22) and the low-compression recesses (452) are projected on an imaginary plane (P) orthogonal to the thickness direction (Z), projection areas (R1) of the low fiber density areas (22) respectively include an overlap (L) with projection areas (R2) of the low-compression recesses (452).
