The electric appliance control method based on the IOT comprises the following steps: monitoring a separation time when a mobile terminal in wireless connection with the electric appliance control device is separated from a range of a wireless signal broadcasted by the electric appliance control device when the electric appliance control device broadcasts a wireless hotspot signal, wherein the separation time comprises a separation date and a separation time; comparing the separation time with the pre-stored separation time of the previous day relative to the separation date; and performing a pre-set operation of a controlled electric appliance when a difference value between the separation time and the separation time of the previous day relative to the separation date is less than a pre-set turn-off threshold value. By means of the method disclosed by the invention, the problem of greatly wasting electric energy due to the fact that the current intelligent control manner of household electric appliances is usually that a specific wireless signal is monitored through a control device and the control device needs to continuously monitor the signal can be solved.
