The invention provides a SURVEILLANCE CAMERA SYSTEM AND a METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME. The surveillance camera includes: an imaging assembly; a dome cover included a transparent portion and formed to surround the imaging unit assembly; a shield configured to move along a surface of the dome cover; a shield driver configured to control the shield; and a sensor configured to sense a value corresponding to at least one of whether an object is approaching the surveillance camera, whether the surveillance camera is falling, whether an impact is exerted on the dome cover, and whether a voice signal is input from an outside of the surveillance camera, wherein the sensed value is compared with a preset value, and the shield driver is further configured to control the shield to shield at least a portion of the dome cover based on a result of the comparing.
