Image defogging method and apparatus

The present invention relates to the technical field of image processing, and particularly relates to an image defogging method and apparatus, so as to solve the problem that the existing method for performing defogging on video images in real time needs specialized hardware equipment to be arranged, increases the arrangement costs and complexity of terminal hardware devices, and is unsuitable to be used on a mobile terminal device. An image defogging method provided by an embodiment of the present invention comprises: determining a missing point in a to-be-processed image; determining a transmittance of pixel points above a horizontal line of the missing point in the to-be-processed image as a preset first transmittance threshold; determining a transmittance that is larger than the first transmittance threshold and that is equal to or less than a second transmittance threshold for pixel points below the horizontal line of the missing point in the to-be -processed image; and determining a color component of each pixel point in a defogged image according to the determined transmittance, a color component and a preset ambient light value of each pixel point in the to-be-processed image.
