Valve timing control apparatus and variable valve actuating apparatus for internal combustion engine

A valve timing control apparatus for an internal combustion engine capable of effectively suppressing adhesion of shaken-off metal abrasion powder to a rotation sensing mechanism. The valve timing control apparatus includes: slip rings (26a, 26b) arranged on a power feeding plate (11); power feeding brushes (31a, 31b) arranged in a cover member (4) and including a tip end portion slidably abutted on the slip rings to feed electric power, the cover member (4) being configured to be opposite to an external surface of the power feeding plate in an axial direction; and an angle sensor (35) installed between a small diameter portion (13b) of a motor output shaft and the cover member and used for detecting a rotation angle of the motor output shaft, wherein a sensed portion (50) is arranged on the small diameter portion, a sensing portion (51) is arranged in an inner surface of the cover member, a maze-shaped recessed groove (36a) and a large groove (36b) which are formed in the inner surface of the cover member and recessed in an axially outward direction of the cover member, and the sensed portion is inserted by a tip end portion of a sensed rotor (52) and is configured in the two grooves to confront the sensing portion.
