Method for producing a piston for an internal combustion engine and piston produced by said method

The present invention relates to a method for producing a piston (10) for an internal combustion engine, with a piston head (11) and a piston ring part (17), wherein the piston head (11) has a combustion bowl (12) comprising a dome (13) and piston bosses (14) provided with boss bores (15), which are connected together by way of contact faces (16). The piston ring part (17) comprises a piston crown (18), a circumferential fire land (19) and a circumferential ring section (21).The piston head (11) and the piston ring part (17) form a circumferential coolant channel (22) with the following method steps: a) production of a blank (11') for the piston head (11) by a forming method, wherein the contour of the combustion bowl (12) is finished outside a dome area (13a), b) production of a blank (17') for the piston ring part (17) by means of a forming method or casting method, c) preliminary working of the blanks (11', 17') with finishing of welding points (26, 28; 27, 29); d) connection of the preliminarily worked blanks (11", 17") of the piston head (11) and piston ring part (17) into a piston body (30) by a welding process, e) reworking and/or finishing of the piston body (30) into a finished piston (10).
