The image forming apparatus according to one embodiment comprises: a communication unit which communicates with a portable electronic device; and a control unit receiving information related to the position of the portable electronic device from the portable electronic device and registering the position of the portable electronic device as a position of the image forming apparatus when a position registration instruction is received. A position guidance method for an image forming apparatus according to another embodiment comprises: calculating a distance between at least one beacon and a first portable electronic device; calculating a position of the first portable electronic device on the basis of the distance between the at least one beacon and the first portable electronic device; and storing the position of the first portable electronic device so as to register the position of the image forming apparatus.
