Zusammenfassung:Provided are an electrode material and an electrode with which, without reducing charge/discharge capacity, it is possible to improve the amount of gas generated inside a cell during charging/discharging, and remedy the degradation of cell structural materials. Also provided is a lithium ion cell. Such an electrode material includes carbonaceous substance electrode active substance composite particles in which the carbonaceous substance is present at the surface of the electrode active substance particles, the oxygen content of the carbonaceous substance is 5.0 mass% or less, and the percentage of carbonaceous substance covering the surface of the carbonaceous substance electrode active substance composite particles is 60% or greater.
