The work base comprises a pedestal, wherein a sliding chute is formed in the pedestal; an included angle ranging from 25 degrees to 35 degrees is formed between the bottom of the sliding chute and a horizontal plane; a sliding block is arranged in the sliding chute; multiple rows of positioning teeth are formed in the upper surface of the sliding block in the sliding direction of the sliding block; the width of the positioning teeth and the interval between the positioning teeth meet the condition that a front supporting rod and a rear supporting rod of a supporting base on the lower portion of the hardness tester are right located at a gap between two positioning teeth, a mounting base is arranged on the side surface of the pedestal, a mounting hole is formed in the mounting base, a rotary shaft directly penetrates through the mounting hole, a drive handle is arranged in the middle of the rotary shaft and can be rotated, and the bottom end of the drive handle is used for pushing and driving the sliding block to move upwards. With the adoption of the work base, convenience and labor saving are realized in the measurement process of the portable hardness tester.
