The embodiment of the invention discloses a method and device for preventing a belt tail drum from being jammed by material adhesion. The method comprises the steps of measuring the distance between a travel switch and a belt on the tail of a belt conveyor in real time, sending out different processing signals according to the distance between the belt on the tail of the belt conveyor and the travel switch, receiving the processing signals in real time and controlling operation of the belt conveyor according to the processing signals. When materials adhering to the tail drum of the belt conveyor reach a certain thickness, the belt on the tail of the belt conveyor moves outwards, the travel switch sends out the different processing signals according to the distance, measured in real time, between the travel switch and the belt on the tail of the belt conveyor, and early alarming is sent out or operation of the belt conveyor is controlled. Accordingly, before the belt conveyor is jammed, workers are prompted or the belt conveyor is controlled to slow down or be shut down, and the workers only need to remove the materials on the tail drum; time and labor are both saved, and normal operation of material conveying of a factory is guaranteed.
