The invention discloses a carpooling method and device. The carpooling method comprises the steps: receiving travel information sent by a driver and riding information sent by a passenger; searching matched travel information according to the riding information, and generating an alternative plan and sending the plan to the passenger; receiving selection information of the passenger; and pushing the selection information to a corresponding driver. The travel information includes routes, a traveling terminal, an assembling place, and corresponding assembling time. The riding information includes the departure time, a departure place and an expected destination selected by a passenger client. The selection information includes an assembling place selected by the passenger and a traveling destination selected during a traveling route. The carpooling cost is reduced, and the carpooling method and device can be approved and supported by supervision departments more easily.
