Zusammenfassung: | The invention discloses a thermal treatment method for improving hardness and tenacity of a steel rod for a rod mill. The steel rod is induced and heated to 1,000-1,200 DEG C, and after complete austenitizing of the steel rod is achieved, water quenching cooling is immediately carried out so as to obtain a total martensitic structure. After water quenching of the steel rod is finished, low-temperature tempering treatment is immediately carried out, and a product with a microscopic structure being tempered martensite is obtained. During deoxygenation, aluminum is adopted as a deoxygenation agent, the amount of added aluminum is 0.4%-0.5% of the weight of molten steel, standing should be carried out for 10-15 min after deoxygenation, and a deoxygenated product floats.
