Mobile terminal and method for controlling same

Disclosed are a mobile terminal capable of adjusting the size of a video in accordance with the size of a file which can be attached to a message, and a method for controlling the same. The mobile terminal for this purpose comprises: a display unit for displaying information; a wireless communication unit for wireless communication; a memory for storing a video; and a controller for, when the size of the video is larger than a limit size for an attachable file supported by a messaging service to be used to transmit the video, making a control to generate a plurality of pieces of files from the video in accordance with the limit size and attach any one of the plurality of pieces of files to a message.
