Method for controlling a display surface of an operator control device and operator control device in a vehicle

The present invention relates to a method for controlling a display surface (2) of an operator control device (6) in a vehicle (20), wherein data for a menu structure having menus in different levels is stored in a memory (11). The method according to the invention is characterized in that the presence of an actuating object (12) in a detection region (8) is detected and in that the menus of the menu structure comprise a subsurface (14) for displaying vehicle type-specific information, wherein the subsurface (14) having the vehicle type-specific information is displayed or modified in the associated menu on the display surface (2) only if it is detected that the actuating object (12) enters into the detection region (8) or exits from the detection region. The invention further relates to a corresponding operator control device (6) in the vehicle (20) for performing said method.
