Zusammenfassung:The present invention provides: a surface-modified metal for a metal medical instrument, a syringe needle, or the metal tube or the like of a medical instrument or device which suppress a decline in the sliding properties thereof, by strongly joining a lubricating layer to the surface of a metal medical instrument such as a guide wire, a syringe needle, or the metal tube of a medical instrument or device, imparting lubricating properties to said surface, and further improving the durability of the lubricating layer on said surface; and a method for modifying a metal surface. The present invention is a surface-modified metal characterized in that at least one section thereof has a surface treated by polymerizing a monomer in the presence of a hydrogen-abstraction-type photopolymerization initiator.
