Zusammenfassung:	The invention discloses a power supply device and an overvoltage protection method. The power supply device comprises an energy storage unit, a first switch, a second switch and a driving module, and is characterized in that the energy storage unit generates driving voltage according to supply voltage; the first switch selectively transmits the power supply to the energy storage unit according to a first driving signal; the second switch is selectively turned on according to a second driving signal so as to adjust the driving voltage; and the driving module turns on the second switch when the supply voltage rises to a first predetermined value, and generates the first driving signal and the second driving signal when the supply voltage rises to a second predetermined value, wherein the first predetermined value is less than the second predetermined value. The power supply device disclosed by the invention can provide effective overvoltage protection in the start-up process of a system, and provide a further overvoltage protection operation after the system is in normal operation.
