Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a device and a method for hydrodynamically consolidating nonwoven fabrics, woven fabrics, and knitted fabrics, comprising a consolidating system with at least one water bar and a drum or a continuous belt, between which a fiber web is transported and consolidated. The invention is characterized in that a compacting device is arranged upstream of the water bar in the running direction of the fiber web, said compacting device compressing the fiber web on the drum or on the continuous belt.
