Output power control method and apparatus for advanced WLAN and Bluetooth-AMP systems

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide output power control method and apparatus for advanced WLAN and Bluetooth-AMP systems, esepcially techniques for reducing power consumption of wireless devices through transmission output power control. In an effort to avoid becoming a hidden node (meaning other devices in the network may not be able to detect the transmissions and may, thus, may communicate in an interfering manner) for client devices and neighboring access points, a client device may employ certain mechanisms prior to reduced power transmissions. A client device may transmit certain transmissions at full transmit power to 'protect' subsequent data transmissions transmitted at reduced power. A device may evaluate the likelihood of becoming a hidden node and, while the likelihood is relatively low, the device may send all transmissions at reduced power.
