Gas damper for a high-voltage switch

The invention relates to a gas damper for a high-voltage switch. The high-voltage switch comprises a housing that determines a volume of gas for a dielectrically insulating gas; a first contact element and a second contact element, between which optionally a electrically conductive connection can be formed, wherein the first and the second contact element along an axis the high voltage switch is movable; a drive connected to the first contact element is connected to the first contact element for separating the electrically conductive connection in a first direction along the axis to move; a transmission, which on its drive side to the first contact element and at its output side with the second contact element is connected to the movement of the first contact element on the second contact element to be transmitted, so that the second contact element for separating the electrically conductive connection in one of the first direction opposite, second direction along the axis is movable; and a gas damper, which is provided on the output side of the transmission for the movement of the second contact element to be damped.
