The electronic equipment has various forms and comprises a first processor and a second processor; when a non-x86 operating system or an x86 operating system operates on the electronic equipment, the electronic equipment can apply the hardware button control method to obtain a state change situation of a hardware button through a second processor and sends the state change situation of the hardware button to a South Bridge chip; the South Bridge chip sends the state change situation to the first processor; the operating system operating on the first processor calls a driving program of the hardware button to finish a function which is currently executed by the hardware button; and therefore, when the operating system operates on the electronic equipment, the driving program used for message conversion does not need to be added out of the operating system, and additional program support is reduced.
