Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to plant gene cloning and functional analysis belonging to the field of plant genetic engineering and particularly relates to a cotton GhEDR2 gene as well as an encoding protein and application of the cotton GhEDR2 gene. A cotton EST fragment which is homologous with the cDNA of a disease-resistant gene of Arabidopsis thaliana is found according to the relative conservative property of homologous gene sequences, partially-overlapped cotton EST with high homology is subjected to sequence splitting to and combined to form cDNA sequences of complete ORF, a specific PCR primer is designed according to the sequences, and then, the GhEDR2 gene is obtained by using an RT-PCR method. Found through qPCR, the expression of the gene in a cotton plant has the characteristic of tissue specificity. In addition, the morbidity of verticillium wilt of transgenic plants is obviously lower than that of non-transgenic plants. Therefore, the GhEDR2 gene disclosed by the invention has a wide prospect in plant breeding for disease resistance when being used for culturing plants resistant to verticillium wilt.
