Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a method that is usable in synthesizing a stereoscopic image comprising a left view ( lL out ) and a right view (IR out ) from a monoscopic image ( Iin ) depicting a scene and a depth map (E) comprising depth values associated to pixels of the monoscopic image (Iin ). The method comprises providing warping data (a) corresponding to the depth map (E) and comprising warping values associated to pixels of the monoscopic image ( lin ). The warping data (a) indicates how the monoscopic image ( lin ) is to be warped to synthesize at least one of the left view ( IL out ) and the right view ( lR out ). Further, the method comprises detecting hole pixels comprising neighbouring pixels of the monoscopic image ( lin ) which, if warped according to the warping data (a), will result in a hole in the at least one of the left view ( lL out ) and the right view ( lR out ). Yet further, the method comprises computing from the warping data ( a ) altered warping data ( b ) comprising altered warping values such that if the monoscopic image ( lin ) is warped according to the altered warping data ( b ) no holes will result in the at least one of the left view ( lL out ) and the right view ( lR out ). The computing comprises setting-up and optimizing an energy function that is based on warping values comprised by the warping data ( a ).
