Endoscope with pivotable lens system

The invention relates to an endoscope (2I - 2III) with a pivotable lens system, comprising an endoscope shank (4) closed at the distal end by a cover glass (10), an optical system (8) arranged in the endoscope shank (4), and at least one prism (14), which is located between the cover glass (10) and the optical system (8) and is arranged in a prism holder (16) that is mounted so as to be pivotable about a rotation axis (18) perpendicular to the longitudinal extent of the endoscope shank (4), wherein the prism holder (16) has at least in part a circular circumference (20) with a toothed arrangement (22) into which an elongate adjustment element (40I - 40III), reversibly movable in the direction of the axial longitudinal extent of the endoscope shank (4), engages via a complementary toothed arrangement (42) formed at least in part on said element. The invention further relates to a use. The endoscope (2I - 2III) according to the invention is characterized in that the adjustment element (40I - 40III) is bendable and is guided in a guide channel (44, 44') formed at least in part around the prism holder (16).
