Zusammenfassung:	A brake caliper is provided with: a caliper body for housing, in a slidable manner, a mechanically operated piston for pressing a brake disc; a rotatable cylinder member disposed coaxially with and next to the mechanically operated piston and rotatably supported by the caliper body; a rotatable arm affixed to the rotatable cylinder member and rotating the rotatable cylinder member by the operation of an operating element; a conversion mechanism configured between the rotatable cylinder member and the mechanically operated piston and adapted in such a manner that the conversion mechanism converts the rotational motion of the rotatable cylinder member into the axial rectilinear motion of the mechanically operated piston and presses and moves the mechanically operated piston to the brake disc side; and a return spring disposed on the inside or outside of the rotatable cylinder member in the radial direction so as to be coaxial with the rotatable cylinder member and pressing the mechanically operated piston in the direction in which the mechanically operated piston moves away from the brake disc.
