The traffic information display system mainly consists of a traffic monitoring management center, a road traffic situation monitoring system, a traffic information transmission network, traffic sign display board controllers and traffic sign display boards. According to the traffic information display system, real-time traffic information can be obtained through the road traffic situation monitoring system and can be processed by the traffic monitoring management center; corresponding real-time traffic sign information can be generated for all traffic sign display boards within an administrative area, is transmitted to corresponding traffic sign display board controllers through the traffic information transmission network, is received by the traffic sign display board controllers through a wired or wireless network, and is displayed on the traffic sign display boards, so that accurate and real-time traffic road information can be provided for passing drivers and passengers, traffic flow loads of different nodes of a traffic network can be balanced, and the occurrence probability of traffic jam can be reduced.
