Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to an illumination system for the interior of a motor vehicle (10), comprising at least one sensor means (20) by which an ambient light situation can be determined, and an illuminating device (30) for illumination of the interior of the motor vehicle. The illumination system has a control means (40) which is disposed downstream of the sensor means (20) and upstream of the illuminating device (30), and by means of which an interior light situation can be adjusted by lighting means (35) of the illuminating device (30) in accordance with the ambient light situation, which is influenced for example by actual objects (50) located in the surroundings of the motor vehicle (10). The invention further relates to a method for adjusting an interior light situation of a motor vehicle (10) in accordance with an ambient light situation of the motor vehicle (10).
