Induction heating device

An induction heating device is provided with: a top plate on which an object to be heated is placed; a plurality of heating coils that are arranged below the top plate; an inverter that supplies high-frequency current to the plurality of heating coils; a control unit that controls the output of the inverter; an operation display unit that outputs an operation command to the control unit; and a detection unit for objects to be heated that detects whether an object to be heated is present on the top plate. The inverter is controlled prior to the reception of an operation command signal from the operation display unit indicating that heating operation is to commence so that detection current for detecting the presence of an object to be heated is supplied to the plurality of heating coils, and while the detection current is being supplied to the heating coils during a detection period, the detection unit for objects to be heated detects whether an object to be heated is present from the input current and/or the output current in the current path for transmitting electrical power from a power source to the heating coils.
