Drive unit for a vehicle

The aim of the invention is to design a vehicle drive unit which comprises an electric motor, requires a small number of components, and is compact. Said aim is achieved by a drive unit (1) for a vehicle (2), comprising an electric motor (6) for generating a driving torque for the vehicle (2), a reduction gear section (8, 31) that is effectively connected to the electric motor (6) and reduces the driving torque, and a power divider section (10) that is effectively connected to the reduction gear section (8, 31) and distributes the reduced driving torque to two output shafts (11a, b). The power divider section (10) and the reduction gear section (8, 31) run coaxial with a main transmission axis (3). The power divider section (10) is designed as a planetary gear set, a planetary gear unit (21a, b) being associated with each of the output shafts (11a, b). The planets (24a, b) of the two planetary gear units (21a, b) are arranged within a common pitch circle diameter on a common planetary carrier (34).
