Zusammenfassung:	A protective supporting bracket (edge bracket) (40, 100) for a tempered cover-plate (18) in a display device (10, 110) is disclosed. The cover-plates are often made of chemically-strengthened glass, which may exhibit flaws caused by cutting and grinding processes. As a result, bending of the cover-plate (18) could cause cracking at these flaw sites. To prevent this, the cover plate (18) is either housed within (or mounted upon) a gasket-like protective support (40, 100) that both mechanically protects the edge of the cover plate and minimizes any bending particularly at its edge. The support may be flat ((100) in figs.10-12) or have a rim (46) abutting the edge of the cover glass ((40) in figs. 3A-7). Furthermore, the support rim may have a 'D'- shaped section, which can enclose a hollow channel (62), to provide an enhanced impact resistance (figs. 6, 7).
