Method for breeding drought-resistant hybrid rice

The invention discloses a method for breeding drought-resistant hybrid rice. The method comprises the following steps: introducing total DNA of barnyard grass into a restorer R and a maintainer line B, planting the introduced DNA progeny material, harvesting seeds of a single plant to obtain seed rice D1, planting each single plant seed of the D1 in a single plant line area by 10-15 lines, respectively performing mixed harvesting on the single plant to obtain seed rice D2, planting each single plant seed of the D2 by 20 lines, performing single plant harvesting on variant strains of leaf type, ear type and plant type character donor barnyard grass so as to obtain seed rice D3, performing conventional planting on single plant D3, screening to obtain a single plant with good characters so as to obtain seed rice D4, carrying out backcrossing on the selected maintainer line and 650A as well as the D4, thereby obtaining the offspring D5 with C4 plant resources. The method disclosed by the invention is simple and rapid, and the bred rice variety is excellent in drought resistance and has a high economic value.
