Zusammenfassung:	The invention discloses a light emitting diode (LED) assembly which comprises an elongated LED and a lens placed above the LED; the LED is provided with a rectangular light emitting surface; the lens comprises a light incident surface and a light emitting surface; the light emitted by the LED enters the light incident surface of the lens, and exits from the light emitting surface of the lens; the light emitting surface of the lens comprises a first light emitting portion and two second light emitting portions positioned on two opposite sides of the first light emitting portion; the first light emitting portion is an outwardly-convex curved surface; each second light emitting portion is a inwardly-recessed curved surface; and the light emitted by the LED enters the lens to form a symmetrical light shape. Therefore, the elongated LED can be used for the production of a vertical backlight module, and an LED television factory can produce vertical backlight module televisions and side LED backlight module televisions by using only the same type of elongated LED, so that purchase cost on LED materials of the LED television factory is reduced, and the production line and material management of the LED television factory is relatively easy by using the single LED materials.
