Zusammenfassung:	Provided is a method for efficiently and simply achieving decontamination of an organic compound, in particular, a gaseous organic compound diffused in air, by carrying out an in-situ treatment under in-situ environmental conditions. The method involves exposing an organic compound to a processing gas at normal temperature, thereby achieving decontamination, in which the processing gas includes a hydroxyl radical, hydrogen radical, hydroperoxy radical, and hydroxymethyl radical which are generated by allowing a catalyst to act on methanol gas.
