The invention provides a device and a method of carrying out cascaded multiply accumulation operation by utilizing a fixed-point multiplier. The method comprises the following steps that the interior of a 32-bit signed fixed-point multiplier is divided into four 17-bit signed fixed-point multipliers, the 17-bit signed fixed-point multipliers are controlled to input operands through an enable signal generated by a decoding unit, and the 32-bit signed fixed-point multiplier can execute fixed multiplication operation and a multiplication operation part in cascaded multiply accumulation; and the 32-bit signed fixed-point multiplier and a matched multiply accumulation unit are organized to an array form according to a certain rule, so that the cascaded multiply accumulation operation can be well implemented. According to the device and the method, flexibility is improved, hardware resources are saved and parallel and pipeline computation of mass data can be well implemented to obtain better real-time performance and resource utilization rate.
