The proton exchange membrane fuel cell comprises an anode flow field plate, a cathode flow field plate, an anode catalytic layer, a hydrophilic washer, an anode electrode, a proton exchange membrane, a cathode electrode, a hydrophobic washer, a cathode catalytic layer, a cathode flow field plate, two water quantity sensors and a controller, wherein the anode flow field plate and the cathode flow field plate are arranged oppositely; the anode catalytic layer, the hydrophilic washer, the anode electrode, the proton exchange membrane, the cathode electrode, the hydrophobic washer, the cathode catalytic layer and the cathode flow field plate are respectively positioned between the anode flow field plate and the cathode flow field plate at the direction of the anode flow field plate toward the cathode flow field plate; the two water quantity sensors are respectively positioned at two sides of the proton exchange membrane and are used for detecting the water quantity at two sides of the proton exchange membrane; the controller is respectively connected with the hydrophilic washer, the hydrophobic washer and the two water quantity sensors in a signal mode, and controls the hydrophilic washer and the hydrophobic washer according to the water quantity information at two sides of the proton exchange membrane, which is detected by the two water quantity sensors, so that the water quantity at two sides of the proton exchange membrane is balanced. The proton exchange membrane fuel cell is used for improving the power generation performance of the fuel cell.
