Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a method of treating a skin condition, particularly improving skin barrier function, improving the appearance of at least one sign of aging in skin, and/or lightening skin, by applying to the skin an extract of Malva neglecta topically to the skin in need of treatment. Topical application of non-polar and/or lipophilic extracts of Malva neglecta have been found to be particularly effective in improving skin barrier function, improving the appearance of at least one sign of aging in skin, and/or lightening skin. The extract may be applied in a composition further comprising an agent, such as an active cosmetic agent, for further treating the skin condition.
