The method includes acquiring first information received by an instant communication terminal; analyzing the language type of the first information; judging whether the language type of the first information is consistent with the default language type of the instant communication terminal or not; if not, adopting the first information as the querying condition, querying second information corresponding to the default language type from a preset multi-language reference text dictionary database, and displaying the second information through the instant communication terminal. Thus, the instant information inconsistent with the language type of the terminal can be detected and translated automatically, and the problems that in the prior art, procedures are complex and the instant communicating effect is poor are solved.
