An electrophoretic display substrate wherein: an electrophoretic display layer comprises a dispersion medium and a charged electrophoretic ink display element (15); a first substrate (1) comprises a gate line, a data line, a thin film transistor, a sub pixel electrode (10), a capacitive element (20) that has first and second electrodes (8, 7), capacitive element electrode lines (3, 3A, 3B) and common electrode lines (4, 25); one of source/drain terminals (12, 13) of the thin film transistor is connected to the data line, and the other is connected to the sub pixel electrode and the first electrode (8); the capacitive element electrode lines are connected to the second electrode (7); a second substrate (2) is provided with a common electrode (14) on one surface, and is provided with a color filter layer on the other surface; the common electrode is connected to the common electrode lines; and the color filter layer comprises a transparent resin (6) that is laminated on the second substrate and color filter pixels (26, 27, 28, 29) that are arranged on the resin.
