The invention relates to a device and method for inserting a contact blade into a socket of a connector. An inserter for inserting a contact blade in a socket of a connector comprises an insert (30) and a movable member (31), the contact blade (2) is received in the insert in an initial state and is arranged in a port (110) of the contact blade (2), the movable member (31) is capable of moving relative to the insert (30), the movable member (31) is in a first position relative to the insert (30) in the initial state, the contact blade (2) in the insert (30) arranged in the port (110) can insert into the port (110) from the first position through the moving of the movable member (31). In this way, the inserter is provided for inserting the contact blade into the socket of the electrical connector, and allows a (new) contact blade to be inserted into the socket of the connector simply and reliably.
