The slow-release composition contains a blank pellet, a drug layer containing metoprolol or a medically acceptable salt of metoprolol, a slow release layer, a protecting layer and the like, wherein the blank pellet is coated with the drug layer; the drug layer is coated with the slow release layer; the protecting layer covers the slow release layer; and the composition is stable and easy to prepare and can achieve the slow release target.
