Voltage nonlinear resistor ceramic composition provided by the invention, compared with 100 mol of ZnO as a primary component, containing as auxiliary components, converted into the elements, oxides of Co more than 0.05 atom%, while less than 30 atom%, the oxide of Sr more than 0.05 atom% and less than 20 atom%, rare earth elements except Sc and Pm oxides are of more than 0.01 atom% and less than 20 atom%; the oxide of Si is more than 0.01 atom% and less than 10 atom%, and the composition does not contain Al, Ga and In. The voltage nonlinear resistor ceramic composition is also provided, relative to 100 mole of ZnO as a primary component, containing as auxiliary components, converted into the elements, oxides of Co more than 0.05 atom% and less than 30 atom%, the oxide of Sr more than 0.05 atom% and less than 20 atom%,rare earth elements except for Sc and Pm oxide more than 0.01 atom% rather than 20 atom%, the oxide of Si more than 0.01 atom% and less than 10 atom%, also containscalcium zirconate, converted i
