Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a device and a method for collecting information relating to the access points of a wireless telecommunications system, e.g. RSS fingerprints of a Wi-Fi network. The information collection is carried out automatically along the path user by using a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal is provided with a display means for displaying the area in which the terminal is moving, and with a pinpointing means for pinpointing a location on the map. When the user is located at the location pinpointed on the map by the pinpointing means, the user validates the position thereof by means of a validation means. The information collected along the path, as well as the coordinates of each validated position, are time-stamped by a clock in the mobile terminal.
