Zusammenfassung:The present invention relates to a combustion method for piston combustion engines, in particular for diesel combustion engines whose fuel injection system operates with pre-injection. It is essential to the invention here that during a cold start phase two pre-injections (2, 3) take place before a top dead centre of a piston is reached, specifically a first pre-injection (2) takes place at approximately 25 DEG CA before the top dead centre and a second pre-injection (3) takes place at approximately 5 DEG CA before the top dead centre, and in the context a crank angle interval a of approximately 20 DEG CA is maintained between the two pre-injections (2, 3), and a crank angle interval Alpha of approximately 5 DEG CA is maintained between the second pre-injection (3) and a main injection (4), independently of the rotational speed. As a result, safe and reliable starting, in particular of diesel combustion engines, can be achieved even at very low temperatures.
