The claimed inventions relate to foundry work, specifically to a method and an apparatus for producing moulding, which are used for providing possibility for detection of moisture content in the moulding producing process and adjusting the considered moisture content of mixed batch material. The method comprises the following steps: a metered quantity of components of a mixture is poured into a mixer, a calculated quantity of water is introduced, the components are mixed, and the moisture content of the mixture is measured after a representative sample is taken. According to the invention, after the representative sample is extracted from the mixer, the representative sample is compressed and prepared into a sample and the moisture content is measured according to the following adjustment of the considered moisture content of the mixed batch material.
