Zusammenfassung:	A brake for wind power plants, with a brake calliper (10) which is mounted in a floating manner, engages around the edge of a brake rotor and has a fixed and a movable brake shoe, and with a spindle drive (16) for the movable brake shoe, a driving source and a gearing which connects the driving source to the spindle drive (16), characterized in that the driving source is a motor (32) which drives a worm (30), and in that the spindle drive (16) has a nut (28) which is designed on the outside as a worm wheel and forms a worm drive together with the worm (30).
