Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to an embossing roller of an embossing device which is used for processing a wrapping material strip. The wrapping material strip is used for a rod-shaped product in the tobacco processing industry. By means of the embossing device, the wrapping material strip can emboss or be embossed during a period of conveying a wrapping material strip along a longitudinal shaft, wherein the embossing roller has an embossing geometrical shape which is at least partially surrounded and has alternative grooves and projections in the direction of the rotary axis of the embossing roller. The embossing roller is characterized in that, compared with the grooves and/or projections in the inner side area of the embossing geometrical shape, the at least one groove and/or projection in an outer side area of the embossing geometrical shape is molded to a greater degree.
