Zusammenfassung:	The invention discloses a melamine polymer type intumescent flame retardant which has the structure as shown in the specification, wherein R is a monohydric alcohol group of aliphatic series, and n ranges from 1 to 100. The invention also discloses a preparation method and application of such intumescent flame retardant. The novel intumescent flame retardant prepared by the preparation method is outstanding in flame retardant performance and smoke suppression, free of halogen, harmless, and high in water resistance and compatibility; the preparation method is simple and easy to carry out and control and convenient for industrial production.
