The invention provides an uplink and downlink WiFi protected setup (WPS) avoiding method in a relay mode. According to the method, a sign reflecting whether a WPS operates or not is set in advance, then, every time a WPS request is received, the sign is detected first, and subsequent WPS interaction is carried out only when the sign displays that no WPS operates at the moment. Due to the fact that the method adopts a mode of setting one variable identifier, the WPS interaction is carried out only when the variable shows that no WPS operates at the moment and the WPS request is received, and thus the phenomenon that a plurality of WPSs are subjected to interaction at the same time is successfully avoided.
